Hi, I’m Col. For 11 years, I have been a portrait artist bringing over 3000 cherished memories to life.
Painting portraits is my way to relax, but the emotional toll of angel portraits, left me feeling burnt out. So, I started painting for fun, and over time, my fairy friends emerged - full of personality and charm...
Meticulously Handmade
In an era of generic digital art, AI and mass production, I like to take the path less travelled- everything is lovingly made by my hands.
Each portrait and print is meticulously hand-embossed using a technique dating back to the 1400s.
I press antique European lace into luxurious French paper - a truly exquisite marriage of textures.

Before ONE SONNY DAY, I was an award-winning early years teacher (pictured here on ‘Bug ’Day’). I know what kids love and how they learn...And so combining my art and teaching expertise, Fairy Mail was born.

Each year, I contribute 800 beautiful prints to Precious Wings Charity’s Memory Boxes, offering a heartfelt way to ease the heartache.

Our son Freddie passed away in 2021 at 4.5 months old, and as I navigated grief and the loss community I kept seeing Col’s beautiful portraits pop up. We decided for his fourth birthday this year we would have Col paint our beautiful boy, and we are so thrilled with the way she has captured his cheeky face and personality. Col was so warm and empathetic throughout the whole process, and her care and attention to detail is so evident. Freddie’s portrait hangs pride of place in our living room and makes us smile every day.

I previously purchased a portrait for my own daughter and bought one for my best friend when she lost her baby in labour. The quality of the portraits are absolutely spectacular and I was particularly impressed with the kindness and sensitivity One Sonny Day takes when creating these portraits for infant loss. The team were so accommodating and fit her portrait in when they had no spots available so I could get this to her quicker. It was such a beautiful gesture. I couldn’t recommend them more, you will not be disappointed.
My daughter was in absolute shock to receive an actual letter from the fairies, let alone be invited to join their club and have them continuously mail her. She was over the moon and happily showing it to her friends. She can't wait to get the next one. Can't believe the effort put into the letter. So beautiful. Wish I was a little girl again.

These letters are so special and beautiful my 6yr old is absolutely enchanted! It's encouraging her reading, she loves the extra activities and she tells all her friends and family when she recieves her special mail. Would highly recommend to everyone, especially as a gift for children who have it all!

We are loving the Love Letters. We cherish the moment that you have created for her when a letter arrives. We have a folder that we put them all in to keep them safe. It's a bit sad that she destroyed the beautiful envelopes, but we adore each letter. You truly have a magical gift.
